Samsung Galaxy Note Introduction:

Galaxy S2 went to gym and got itself lean and mean. Now it’s called Galaxy Note. The phone has got awesome hardware configuration which runs Android Gingerbread 2.3.5. Samsung represents it as a choice between a phone and tablet and that’s true too. The device is not so bulky as a tablet and not as small as a phone. So if you are a tablet lover, but can’t find suitable pocket for it then this device is for you.

Hardware Specification:

The device has got powerful 1.4GHz processor running on 2500mAh battery? Quite big numbers, huh? The phone comes with Super AMOLED Plus Display 5.3″ screen, which is 1″ bigger than Galaxy S2. The resolution is fairly higher compared to Galaxy S2. 1280×800 pixels WXGA resolution lets you have the experience richer, sharper.

The phone has 8 MP camera which has inbuilt shooting modes like smile shot, panorama, etc. Picture quality is very good, it can beat a dedicated digital camera. It has got 2 MP front camera for video calling, alternatively can be used for self shots.

In addition to the features from Galaxy S2, the phone also includes a capacitive stylus which can perform many actions on the phone.

Benchmark Test:

We performed benchmark test on Galaxy Note using two standard benchmark applications available in android market. The results are outstanding.

We got 3346 score, which is more than double of other all device scores. Further testing using AnTuTu benchmark we got 6176 score, standing above all the smart phones.

Input Methods:

As the phone is having 5.3″ screen we get QWERTY keyboard with large buttons and good spacing. You can use keyboard in two modes: Landscape and Portrait. By default, the system includes Samsung & Swype keyboard. Though, many additional keyboards are available in android market.

As its Samsung Galaxy Note you have got stylus as an input which can be used to write a memo.

Moreover, you can take a screenshot using pen and edit them instantly.

S Memo, Calendar and other in-built applications:

S-Memo is the one of the best newly introduced feature in Galaxy Series. You can create new To do, Event, Reminders even paintings using S pen.

You get around 24 lines screen length practically which is useful to estimate screen size for those who are thinking to buy it.

You can manage your events, To do, etc. using in-built calendar and pen.

Web Browsing, Internet & Data Speed:

Web browsing speed is the same as Galaxy S2, but advantage you get here is less scrolling. The phone supports 4G data networks. Stroke browser is nice to use, but if you are a Firefox fan, you can get that too from android market.

We connected Galaxy Note on Galaxy S2 Wi-Fi Hotspot and performed speed test. Galaxy S2 was using 3G data network.

Music:

Music quality is pretty good. Speaker is loud enough. Stroke music player does the job very well though you can have VLC player, real player from android market. Box headphones are awesome. It has got 5.1 surround which gives you rich music experience even in noisy environments.

Gaming:

High screen resolution, Super AMOLED Plus display, 5.3″ screen all together makes gaming experience richer most. The graphics processor and cortex processor makes the device capable to run any game available on the android market. 3D graphics performance is good enough.

Samsung Galaxy Note Price in India:

MRP printed on box is 34,500 Rs. but you can get discounted price on web stores and grab the device in as low as 32,000 Rs.

In most of festivals, I have seen that students represent demo software, that is very good at student level, but 90% of them don’t get implemented in real life actually. The reasons behind this might be lack of industry support for improvements in the software or capable platform, but at the end 90% hard work of students get wasted because lacking of 10% required support. On a note I must mention here that such support can bring out many entrepreneurs which India is in need.

IIT TechFest creates a difference here. Under techfest 2012, android application development competition was held and the outcome was real life applications. Thing to appreciate is TechFest team actually listed the applications on Android Market. This inspired me to write this article. As a technical festival traveller, I understand this is a big thing. It must have inspired all the participants to go deeper in the field. I congratulate the whole techfest 2012 team for this. Keep it up guys!

Let’s have a look at those android applications. You may find some of them useful for your device. These apps are not far than industry developed applications.

NDroidpad: I love this application as it allows to use your phone as PC joystick and mouse. It uses Bluetooth radio as communication channel.

Profils: An android application to manage phone profiles, wallpaper, customizations, etc. based on your GPS location. Also, it has location based reminders. Forgetting to bring a one KG sugar returning home? It will remind as you will be near your home.

Giraffe: Geolocate your family and friends. A good security application and also to plan get-together. The application supports SMS for sending locations, an internet (data plan) version would be more appreciated.

KryptoRemote: An android application for Bluetooth SMS, encrypted SMS and remotely operate phone for retrieving data & operations.

We have seen that our central database will have a table of all people of India each assigned a unique ID. The table will have records of criminals too. You might wonder why a criminal will opt for unique ID, but police may create and assign unique ID behalf of them for better management.

To store crime information the system will have two more tables, crime table and crime code table. The crime table will contain crime records. Each FIR will add a new row in this table. Each row will have unique IDs of criminals involved in that crime.

The crime code table will hold all Indian Penal Codes (IPC). Whenever a crime happens a new row will be added to crime table. In future, when similar crime happens in the same region the cops will be able to find the suspects by a single click. For example, in riots police will be able to find doubtful people performing a single query.

Also, in a case of theft, when CCTV is not available, unknown suspects can be cancelled out by a few queries. It will not only help in solving cases faster, but also will help reducing crime as in most of the cases police will be around the clues.

The database will be on national unique ID server that will be accessed from everywhere. Because of this communication gap between interstate police will be reduced resulting in faster tracing of criminals.

Competitions: Robowar where you can cheer up for huge robots fight. Coding, Architecture structure making, small engine remote controlled car race, android application development contest, etc. are the main attractions.

Workshops: You can get ready for learning android application development, robotics, automobile sketching and much more.

Lectures: Inventors of most famous daily stuff that you use visit IIT during techfest, i.e. Father of Wi-Fi or he may be a Google team leader. Their lectures are worth to attend.

TechFest 2012 has invited K Brandenburg, Pioneer in audio technology and co-inventor of MP3, Hakon Wium Lie, Developer CSS and CTO of Opera, Dennis Charter, Inventor of secure online money transfer and many more geeks around the globe.

Technoholix: Tired after full day roaming around in huge IIT campus? No worries, relax in open air theater. Technoholix is something which can’t be described in words. How about watching a video?

Step 1: Separate audio track from video. You can use freeware like Format Factory for this.

Step 2: Download and install Audacity.

Step 3: Open audio file in Audacity by pressing  Ctrl + O.

Step 4: Find a part of audio where only noise is present, actual audio is absent. You may find a single second of noise. Select that portion.

Step 5: Go to Effect > Noise removal and click “Get Noise Profile”.

Step 6: Select whole audio or part of the audio track from which you want to remove noise.

Step 7: Go to Effect > Noise removal and adjust less or more slider listening preview every time. Select best position where noise has been removed though actual audio is clear.

Step 8: Click “Remove Noise”.

You will get such noise filtered audio output which you can export from file menu. Replace audio track of video using windows live movie maker or virtualdub.

1. Source/ Supply chain: Its the product source. Products, to sell, can be purchased from a main dealer of area/ state or directly from manufacturing company.
2. e- Cart / Developer: To sell products online you need a website/ platform. You may use freely available scripts like OpenCart or ZenCart or  hire a web development firm to create your custom cart.
   
3. Payment Gateway: Payment Gateway is door between your shopping cart and bank account. A payment gateway enables users to shop online using their credit card, debit card, bank accounts, etc. Usually, a payment gateway charges you monthly fees or commission per transition along with one time setup fees.
4. Shipping Partner: Finding cheap and reliable logistic partner is very important in an e-commerce business. If your product is not getting delivered in time, you have to face customer queries along with negative impression in market. Many e-commerce websites are successful because of super fast shipping, A key factor !
5. Web Maintenance Team: Job of a web maintenance team is to check health of your e-commerce script and server. Also, to add/edit modules, banners, change/add features you need well technical team. Though, this is optional at the startup, if you are technical sound, then you can take care of it on your own at small stages (and save money).
6. Social Marketer: Web 2.0 is social web. If you want to spread your e-product in end-users, web marketing is the best way. You can hire a professional social marketing company for the same. Obviously, you can give it a try on your own, depending on your skills, but if you are a “just for friends” Facebook user, we recommend that you go professional.
7. Support Team: Not everyone is familiar with online shopping or aware of all products. Users get queries, you must provide a fastest way to solve it. You may offer customer support through email, chat, phone. Details on the topic will be discussed later.
8. Chartered Accountant/ Auditor: When you buy & resell in bulk, you need to manage accounts for above all. To handle all account sheets alone, is a tough task for a non-accounting guy. Dedicating a company or CA person is better option as it is something you submit to the government body.
9. Investor/ Funds: One thing is common among above eight requirements and that’s money . If you want to launch the platform on a bigger scale, you need a huge amount. You may need to find investors or go for bank loans. I will publish a guide for it soon.
